All About Your Kindergarten Teacher
Hello! My name is Summer Norton. I am originally from Buda, Texas. I graduated from Jack C. Hays High School and achieved my bachelors degree at Southwest Texas State University (now known as Texas State) in 2002. I majored in Elementary Education with a specialization in Early Childhood. I am certified to teach Pre-K through sixth grade. I also hold a certification for special education, ESL (English as a Second Language) and have many hours of training in the area of GT (Gifted and Talented) .
I began my teaching career in Elgin (known for their hot sausage), where I taught Pre-Kindergarten for 7 years. I then decided I wanted a different experience that would allow me to see another aspect of teaching, so I decided to become certified to teach special education. I was the resource and inclusion teacher for two years.
This will be my fifth year teaching at Rooster Springs Elementary. For the first two years at Rooster Springs, I taught fifth grade. Fifth grade was great, but I have always had a heart for teaching little friends, so made the transition back to Kindergarten. This will be my third year teaching kindergarten at Rooster and I absolutely LOVE it!!
I have been married to my wonderful husband, Michael, for 13 years. He is an assistant principal at Dripping Springs High School. We have two terrific children who keep me smiling (and very busy :). We enjoy many different outdoor activities, going to the beach and just spending time together as a family.
Thank you very much for giving me the privilege to teach your child. We are a team and I am looking forward to a fabulous year together!!
